  • RPG Devlog 000 – So it begins…

For over 5 years now, I have been a student of Game Design. I started by learning to use code-less environments and engines. In fact I dove so deep into one cod-less engine and became so involved in their community, that they actually hired me to teach their engine.

Eventually, I moved on to Unity and learned how to use BOLT (a visual scripting add-on for Unity) and created games with that, including my upcoming iOS release Idle Arcade Tycoon.

As quarantine became a way of life, I turned a negative into something positive… I finally did something I’ve been wanting to do for years now…

I learned to code.

It wasn’t my first attempt, as I remember when I was younger my cousin and tried to learn C++ through a correspondence course, but it was very difficult to grasp and I just wan’t ready… but it was in the back of my mind as a skill I dreamed of having.

During my course study learning C#, I have now coded 5 fully functional and playable game prototypes ready to flesh out into commercial releases…

a Lander…

a Rail Shooter…

a Tower Defense with AI pathfinding from scratch

an FPS…

and an RPG…

I have decided to expand the coursework done on my RPG into a full fledge release. This is the first devlog of that story…
