Scrum Talk Daily - # 4
Scrum Team Accountabilities (roles) # 2 - The Product Owner

According to the 2020 Scrum Guide, a Scrum Team consists of: the Developers, the Product Owner, and the Scrum Master.

So what does a Product Owner do?

The Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value of the product:
Developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal;
Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog items;
Ordering Product Backlog items; and,
Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood.

For Product Owners to succeed, the entire organization must respect their decisions. The Product Owner is one person, not a committee. Hmm...

That sounds like there is one person who makes the final decision.

What if certain Stakeholders want something changed? What if they attend a meeting and try to steer the product a certain way resulting in a lengthy back and forth?

How important is it that Product Owners are the final say in their accountabilities? Have you had a situation where it was necessary to reiterate this? Why is this important?
