"Scrum Team members respect each other to be capable, independent people, and are respected as such by the people with whom they work."
How many times have you had a job where your boss is hovering over your shoulder? Did that feel like you were respected as capable to get the job done? Independent enough to follow through?
When faced with a lack of respect, it tends to really taint our perspective about our workplace. It poisons us against the organization and those personally who display the lack of respect we feel necessary.
When our mental image toward the organization or our team members is poisoned, so is our output toward "the goal". The less respected we feel, the less motivated we become to serve the organization's and/or team's needs.
